The 1872 is located at the Ribeira, right where the Muro dos Bacalhoeiros is, and right in front of the Douro. It has eight rooms, some facing the city, some facing the river. All rooms have different characteristics, but all of them bare the mark of comfort. And every corner of the 1872 will surprise you. Here, surprises are endless – no day is the same as the last day. At this River House, whether you are at the common room or at the terrace, there is always a place where to read a book, a place where to have a drink, a place where to be amazed with the view or where to plan the next stroll.

 

Here at the 1872, every room tells a story. And for that reason all rooms are furnished in a different way. Every piece of furniture (mostly Portuguese furniture) was restored and rethought in order to adapt to the new space they occupy.
